A Must-Read!

Review by S. Crain, 2010-06-24

As an update to her first book, Dr. Jean Loftus's new book is not only a timely source for "what's out there now" on new plastic surgery techniques, but also a good basic refresher for anyone considering plastic surgery. I read her first book about one year after publication, and looked forward to this new book, when I learned it was "in the works". It did not disappoint me, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is even remotely thinking about plastic surgery. I particularly appreciated the straightforward advice about when one should not consider a particular procedure, and the abundance of diagrams and "before and after" photos. This book is a clear and easy read, and arms the patient with right questions to ask the plastic surgery duirng the initial consultation.

Surgical intervention

Review by Gretchen K. Carlson, 2010-04-23

I read this avidly, but was shocked that she left out a MAJOR woman's plastic surgery: brachioplasty. Not even mentioned. For most women, a major source of concern: that flab under your upper arm. Other than that omission, a "thumbs up" review. Concise, thorough, informative. No need to rush into surgery uninformed: this is a good resource on how to do your homework.

Great book, Great surgeon

Review by Jessica H., 2010-04-05

I highly recommend this book, especially if you are considering breast augmentation. The book is full of valuable information to anyone considering plastic surgery. I can not only speak of the book, I can speak of Dr. Loftus. She is an outstanding doctor who is able to put a woman at ease, listen to her goals and expectations, and deliver incredible results. Dr. Loftus is an expert in her field and has a stellar reputation in our area.

Please Don't Waste Your Money!!!!!

Review by MD, 2009-11-05

Okay since I bought this book because of all the 5 star reviews it got here I'd like to send others a warning. This is NOT a 5 star book!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel foolish having wasted my money on this. Oh yeah and to add insult to injury, you can go to the author's website and get the same exact information plus colored photos as opposed to black/white found in the book. Anyone considering plastic surgery shouldn't bother with this book. You will get the same exact information in a consultation with a plastic surgeon or off numerous sites on the internet. DO NOT BOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure wish I was warned.

For Basic Knowledge

Review by Crystal Hurlburt, 2009-08-16

The Smart Womans Guide to Plastic Surgery educates readers with basic knowledge of plastic surgery. I feel like some chapters are rushed and short. For example, the neck and face lift chapter is short and not as explanatory as breast surgery or liposuction. This book also has positive stories of women and plastic surgery. However, I wish that their was negative stories of women and plastic surgery. That way these readers can get a better idea if they want plastic surgery or not. I will say that chapter 1 is the best. Chapter 1 is the best, because it explains the scams plastic surgeons can fool people with. WHICH IS VERY SHOCKING!
